In the book of Daniel, we find Daniel and his fellow Israelites in the midst of an imposing foreign empire: Babylon. This was a place out of their comfort zone where the people spoke a different language, had different customs, followed different rules and worshiped foreign gods. Babylon embraced the ideology of empire and harshly rejected any threats to that core ethos.

In 2015, we have have many figurative Babylons, or places where “normal” runs counter to our Christian walk. So what is your Babylon? Where is the place where you feel like an alien in a strange land? Is it your job, your school, your home … and dare I even say … your church?

While many people associate the book of Daniel with lion’s dens and fiery furnaces, Daniel and his friends spent much more time surviving in Babylon as opposed to dying for their faith. Accordingly, what can the stories in Daniel teach us about life now?

In this C. H. E. Sadaphal sermon, you will learn 3 strategies that will equip you to survive in Babylon, or all those hostile environments that suggest you abandon your faith and reject God’s principles.

(1) Learn how survival begins before you even step foot in Babylon through preparation. Preparation leads to ability and ability allows you to adapt.

(2) There is one simple principle that will help you to navigate difficult scenarios. In fact, God thought the principle is so important, He descended from heaven and spoke it to the people Himself.

(3) Perseverance is what keeps you going when the path of least resistance is to submit to the Babylonian king. What does being incarcerated in Maine have to do with the quest for eternal life? Find out in the sermon below.
